Getting appropriate help seems to be such a lottery. I was with a carers' group on Monday and stories like yours seem to be so common. Some people have local authorities and social services departments that provide excellent services - others seem to be abandoned to their own devices.
A number of people said that they only made progress when they asked their GP for a note for them to take to discuss their situation with the local MP in the local surgery. Others had just given up.
