Yes, I'm throwing my toys out of the cot and you can't stop me! A while ago I whined that I had 327 Enquiries Outstanding that were waiting for a response from various organisers and contacts. I now have 450+ enquiries that are waiting for a response, but this is a whinge of a slightly different theme.
Yesterday morning somebody sent me an email that suggested a date for a workshop. I'm away from home at present, so I hadn't checked that account. So, less than 4 hours after sending the email, the organiser phoned me, to check because she hadn't heard back from me. After 4 hours. I hadn't had a response in weeks, but the co-ordinator expected a response within 4 hours. Anyway, she ended up speaking to my wife who checked my email and my diary and handled the booking for me.
Now, I'm pleased to have the opportunity to run Happystance for these carers and it sounds like a great venue and I'm looking forward to a good time. But I spend a lot of time composing gentle reminders, sending emails and leaving voicemails: I wait weeks, and in some cases more than a year for a response, but the people I contact (some of whom are paid co-ordinators) expect me to be able to respond within 4 hours. When I am doing my day-job. Not that I expect them to know that. And it was one person. There I go, trying to see the other side and ending up feeling both aggrieved and unreasonable...
