Martine Roussel-Adam

Blogger profile

A graduate in law and insurance, Martine Roussel-Adam began her career in an insurance broker and law firm.

She subsequently set up two call centre companies. Answering questions about law, finance, taxes and so on, one company was dedicated to individuals and the other one to business enterprises. She managed and developed these companies for 18 years employing up to 100 people. Last year she sold the firms to an international group.

Since 2000, Martine has also been involved in humanitarian actions in India. She created a holiday centre for orphans and a training centre for poor young women to help them find employment. She develops and funds further activities like micro-credit and is now opening a crèche for disabled babies in Tamil Nadu.

With her background both in business and philanthropy, Martine has been interested in social entrepreneurs for a long time. She has been member of the support committee of Ashoka France, the recently launched French branch of Ashoka, which has been supporting 1,700 social entrepreneurs worldwide.

Currently, Martine is considering developing activities to connect social entrepreneurs with people wishing to invest both their financial resources and their specific knowledge in order to help social entrepreneurs to achieve their goals. She recently joined the board of PhiTrust Partners, a Company specialising in "responsible investment".

Martine has three children who are now grown up. She lives near Paris in a quiet green city. Her hobbies include travelling, photography, video making, jogging and skiing. She also likes writing and has contributed to several books. Recently, she was featured in "Third Millennium Managers", a book edited by a social scientist concerned with future issues.
