Norbert Mbu-Mputu, a trained journalist, used to work with refugees and train aspiring journalists for a local UN office in his native Congo. Since coming to the UK, he has helped a number of local voluntary organisations with media and communications. In partnership with these local groups, Norbert is now producing a fun, educational book featuring up to ten African tales that are well known to parents, as a ways of getting parents and their children to talk. The book appeals to parents as it is full of stories that they know and it helps the children, most of who have been born in the UK, to find out about their heritage and culture. The Level 1 Award has paid for equipment, printing and some promotional workshops.
