UnLtd and HEFCE launch new HEI support initiative
Following the success of the Higher Education Social Entrepreneurship (HE SE) Awards, the first collaboration between UnLtd and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), a new initiative has been launched to provide Higher Education Insitutions (HEIs) with the necessary support, resources and knowledge to embed social entrepreneurship within England-based universities and colleges.
UnLtd will work with the HEIs over an 18 month period to develop their support structures, as well as private sector support from UnLtd Connect

A big thank you from SHINE 2011
The SHINE Unconference is over for another year and we would like to say a big thank you to the SHINE delegates, partners, speakers, panellists and Hub Westminster for making this year's event full of brilliant conversation, a great platform to share knowledge and the chance to meet new people, who are all passionate about making a positive difference to the world around them.

When people and power meet - SocialFuture Roundtable
In August 2011 riots and disorder shook many UK towns and cities. Through a survey of our Award Winners we discovered how much they were doing to help communities recover and could offer community driven solutions to the underlying causes.
We held a private roundtable on Tuesday 13th September with some of these proactive individuals, alongside key policy makers and influencers. No topics were barred from discussion and what followed was a fascinating debate.

Annual Survey Findings of Early Stage Social Entrepreneurs
UnLtd has launched its annual survey findings of early stage social entrepreneurs, which found that these social entrepreneurs are achieving more impact and growth despite the adverse economic and public spending conditions. You can read the findings report here
UnLtd Product Review
UnLtd has provided funding and support to thousands of people since starting up in 2002 and this demonstrates the power and impact of people who have the ideas, passion and willingness to act.
We have learned a lot since 2002 and this has helped us to shape our 5 year strategy. As part of delivering this strategy, we are looking in depth at our products and services and whether they meet the needs of social entrepreneurs in their current format. The first stage of this product review was the research commissioned by Sidekick Studios.

view all newsUnLtd Award Winner Pearl Amoateng and her inspirational social venture Let's Be Positive (LBP) are launching a riots inspired album call AniMuzik on Friday 20th January.
The album was recorded in Tottenham during the August 2011 London riots and Pearl hopes that its songs will send a positive message living in Tottenham and across London. Previous LBP albums have featured rising UK hip-hop star Wretch 32.
LBP is a collective of young poets, musicians, rappers, singers, songwriters and music producers based in Tottenham, who make music with positive and inspirational lyrical content.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills have launched a Community Buying website.
You can read a quick and easy guide that will give you practical information and advice on how to set up and run a community buying group. It also includes a list of benefits about how by community buying it will help you to get better deals.
You can also register your interest for their Buy Better Together Challenge which aims to inspire new models of community buying, stimulate enterprise and promote shared learning.
