Slivers of Time Working

Wingham Rowan

Slivers-of-Time Working provides an innovative technology platform that enables a new form of employment. It matches individuals who have “spare hours” to sell (e.g. around other personal commitments such as child or elderly care, seasonal work, studying, medical constraints, etc.),with organisations that need fast access to a pool of flexible workers to meet ad hoc staffing needs.

The technology allows people with restricted availability to work on their own terms. Individuals can determine when they want to work, in what area and for how much.

For marginalised groups or those trying to get off benefits, it means access to the labour market and an opportunity to build up a track record of reliability based on short-term bookings with multiple employers.

For employers, it means a cost-effective and efficient way of staffing at short notice and from a wide pool of potential talent.

UnLtd Ventures has provided funding to Slivers-of-Time Working and worked with them to revise their business model and growth plans and assess legal restructuring options that would actively protect the social mission and attract future investment. We have also brokered introductions to a range of potential investors.

Slivers-of-Time Working is now established and is expanding its operations in London and will open multiple sites around the UK in the coming year, growing their user base by over ten-fold and requiring substantial additional investment.
